Medical Practice

Benchmark partnered with MedStar Health to renovate the Curtis National Hand Center located at the MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. The project required interior demolition and renovation of a portion of the second floor of the Johnston Professional Building.

The Hand Center had to remain open and fully operational throughout construction. The phased approach, separated by ICRA barriers, allowed the center to remain open. The work reconfigured the existing outpatient treatment center’s support and examination spaces, without changing the use of the space of the therapy areas. The reconfigured space added a new check-in and scheduling area, therapy check-in/check-out area, additional exam rooms, administrative offices, charting rooms, private bathrooms, a procedure room, and a staff break room.
